The Community Economics educator will be based in the Crookston Regional Extension office and will serve primarily a service area of twelve or more counties in Northwest Minnesota. The educator also serves as a member of a statewide program team and will serve on project teams that serve other regions and the entire state of Minnesota. Some clerical, technology and other support will be provided by support staff in the regional Extension office, under the supervision of the office’s regional director. The educator will be one of several in the regional office representing different Extension program areas and will be expected to develop and maintain working relationships with these and other staff at that location.

The Community Economics Extension educators use applied research and research-informed program strategies to help communities make decisions that strengthen the vitality of their local economies.
Community economics programs offer educational opportunities for communities in such areas as economic impact analysis, business retention and expansion, retail analysis and development, tourism and events management, public finance, and the adoption of digital technologies. We’re looking for candidates with master’s degrees and two years of work experience with state, regional or local development agencies; cooperative extension; higher education; community or interest-based organizations; adult education; or foundations.
